One For The Colonel

An ragtime re-imagining of a Trumpet Warhorse.

$14.99

One for the Colonel is a lively and characterful work for trumpet and piano written for and at the request of Rick Bogard, Professor of Trumpet at the University of Texas at Arlington. The title is a tribute to the legendary trumpet pedagogue Colonel Earl D. Irons, whose influence shaped generations of trumpet players.

The piece combines lyrical writing with moments of wit and playful musical humor, giving the soloist opportunities for expressive phrasing as well as brilliant, confident playing.

At approximately four minutes in length, One for the Colonel works well on recital programs and has been successfully performed by professional trumpeters and advanced university students.

An engaging addition to the modern trumpet repertoire.
