Le Nez de L'Esprit (Program Notes)

Le Nez de L’esprit (2013) is an energetic and witty work for collegiate trombone quartet (3 Tenor, 1 Bass). Awarded Second Prize in the 2015 Texas Tech Trombone Composition Competition, the piece combines rhythmic drive, playful interplay, and bold ensemble writing that showcases the full character of the trombone quartet.

The writing emphasizes tight ensemble coordination, dynamic contrast, and idiomatic use of the instrument across all four parts. Each voice is treated independently while contributing to a cohesive and high-impact ensemble sound.
